Not long till we start planting the summer bedding.  The forget-me-nots and primroses were lovely this Spring, particularly down at the war memorial.  Many people have made comment how well kept it looks and we would like to thank Mrs Meinrtz for her help.

The Highland Council have kindly awarded £435 from the ward discretionary budget so this will be put to good use replacing some of the tubs and soil.  Once again we are growing our own summer bedding from seed and at the end of the year, we hope to plant crocus bulbs along with the primroses and forget-me-nots for next year’s Spring colour.

They say a gardener learns more from their mistakes than their successes.  Lesson learned, rabbits like wallflowers and they have had a good scoff at the stone troughs at the pitch!

The Maryburgh in Bloom team have also been down to the community garden at Wrightfield to weed and tidy up.  Thank you to Mrs Chisholm for the tea and biscuits.

Thank you in advance to those who will be helping to keep the tubs around the village watered and weed free.  If you have time to spare and would like to help, please get in touch with the Community Council.  Particularly if you have space in your greenhouse to grow summer bedding.

Sunflower Competition

Please take time to visit the plant stall at Maryburgh Gala, it will be selling the sunflowers seedlings.  We hope you will take part and have a go at growing the tallest sunflower.
