Since getting approval to develop the Business Plan submitted to the Highland Council Asset Board last year the group has been working hard to try and raise funding. We have had some setbacks when after waiting months our application to Awards for All was unsuccessful.

Since then the Highland Council have assisted with some funding and an application to Scottish and Southern Energy was also successful. This funding has allowed the group to engage an architect and chartered surveyor to develop and provide costings for the preferred option 5 plan. These designs and initial costings will hopefully be ready in time for the Maryburgh Amenities Company Annual General Meeting.

We are now starting to prepare the application to apply for a Stage 1 lottery grant – Growing Community Assets. This will provide the community with the funding necessary to move the project forward and allow professional input to be engaged for the detailed design of the site.

The Futures Group are all residents in the village who volunteered to help with this project. We need more help, more volunteers. You don’t need to have any special skills just a willingness to help out to improve the community facilities in the village for the benefit of everyone.
